Maru shrugged... And then decided to hell with it. In a poof of odourless dark blue smoke, the human form of Maru vanished and in it's place sat a small, black cat atop the barricade.

"... Guess Madoka didn't tell you about me, huh?" Maru said. In this form he sounded much younger than he did as a human. He sat on his haunches and looked up at the guy with way too much energy.

"I'm a Servamp. I'm a vampire... and a cat... kind of. This is just how I was made." It was weird explaining it and he normally wouldn't bother, but he knew this one was someone important to Madoka. That was the only reason he hadn't walked away.
