Possibly! Maybe Gil-galad was a little rascal, like the Fëanorions were. After all, it's not uncommon for heroes to have been spirited and mischievous as children.

"Regrettably, I didn't have any explosives with me. Nita and I tried to dig a new tunnel into the cave under the front lawn of the Far Palace. We had this idea that we could light a fire on the plinth down there, in case it turned out that all the holy places had to have beacons, even if the beacons couldn't be seen. We were trying to ensure that enough oxygen could flow in from from another place, like one of the domes. So that if we did light a fire, it wouldn't burn up all our oxygen at once."

He scratches his head. "Needless to say, it was a problematic project."
