He felt like he could see the shape of her distrust in the gods. Sven could understand. Gratitude and sorrow swirled in his chest in a bittersweet mix of emotion. If only every servant of the gods had the mutually beneficial relationship that he had with his patron--El'Nil'm had given him life in ways beyond simply bringing him back to existence.
"I think...you've already seen it for yourself." He told her, his words quiet and a gentle smile on his lips. He gestured a hand toward the horizon. "You can't feel it on the breeze? You've seen it on the islander's faces, in their relief to be reunited with their families."
He caught her looking at his hands the same way he had looked at hers and grinned. Sven gave Light ample space to reject his touch, but if she'd let him, he'd take her hand in his and draw a line of black across her palm with his finger.
"They're grateful." He said softly. "They protect the balance on this planet...that's why things went so crazy without them. They...well. They didn't really give me words. Some gods will batter me with grandiose speeches, others it's more like a quiet feeling that stirs in your soul. I felt their joy. Join the song. That's the impression I got...they just want us to enjoy being here in the little time we have." He paused. "Your gods abused their power. I understand if it's hard for you to see that things can be better. But I hope you can breathe a little easier knowing this world is better for the power of its gods and that in protecting them you also protected the people and nature on this planet that they hold dear."
