Those words make her heart sink. It's not that they don't make sense. Sure, people are dumb and judgemental, and there's no way they wouldn't judge Allen with his white hair and scars and his odd arm, even if he had less of that when he was younger. And it's not like she hasn't seen similarly terrible or even worse things happening to young children.
But that still doesn't make it right that said things would happen to kids to begin with. Especially when it's his own parents who did that. For all of Alice's terrible lot in life, at least her parents were kind to her. Allen didn't even have that much. And yet somehow he still manages to find the strength to smile.
"How could they do that to you?" Her voice almost cracks as she says it. Maybe she's getting a little too upset over something that happened to someone else, but for one, it comes eerily close to some of her own experiences, and then there's the fact she cares much more about Allen's safety and wellbeing than she'd have anyone believe. "You're much too kind to everyone around you, so how could they just label you as a freak?! Over what? Just an arm? That's much too cruel!"
