We managed to decipher the meaning of those pictures and to pass the information to the other teams, especially Blue Team, who were closest to the place the pictograms were trying to show us as the site of the beacon that had to be lit. It was apparently that beacon that summoned the power that we all saw as streaks of light coming from the horizon."

He scratches his head briefly and makes a face. "Much as I like solving mysteries, I like fighting better. I wish I had gotten to fight the monsters, but at least Team Orange got to fight the crabs. They weren't big enough to be a real danger to a trained warrior, but they were trying to eat the sleeping mer people, so we spent considerable time killing the crabs or thinking up strategies to drive them out of or away from the city. It all worked out, and I'm very glad of that. How did you fare, what with fighting the monsters and escorting the shamans?"
