For a moment there was definite floundering as she kicked out, flailed under and failed to surface as legs and arms twisted.

She eventually struck sand with a foot though and pushed herself up as he grabbed her and pulled her up. She coughed as she found air again and didn't fight his grip.

She's pretty embarrassed. She hadn't thought it would be so hard. She had watched him and studied how he moved. Yet she had still sunk.
