She followed his advice as best as she could and it did work a bit, letting herself be pushed above the wave rather than it going over her.

She wasn't sure about going deeper, but she's no coward so she just nods. She won't panic and she will try and breathe and use her arms all at once.

She hadn't expected swimming to be really easy but she had not expected it to be this complicated either. She did what he said, pushing off towards deeper water and kicking her legs, trying to breathe and move her arms all at the same time.

The water does go over her head, a lot. It goes over and she remembers to hold her breath and close her eyes so the salt doesn't hurt them and then she is back up and she kicks her legs and moves her arms.

It's exhausting and she's not really going anywhere, but she is staying on top of the waves for the most part and when she dips under she can make herself get back up to where she can breathe.

Moving will be a whole different difficulty though, she thinks.
