If nothing else, Edge had gotten better about not reacting with the full force of his anger here on the train. Still felt it keenly, but as good as shouting felt, it cost a certain level of authority.

"If you choose to ignore a terrible decision just because it was later undone, without apology or responsibility taken, you're willfully blind. If you choose to surrender your self-determination to those who believe they are responsible for your fate, because you can't be trusted, then you're a fool. If you choose to directly refuse to acknowledge that all those things you cite have been opposed by the leadership people voluntarily put into place, then you're a hypocrite, and if you assume that there's no disaster coming because people have in fact put into power a group that actively opposes what they really want, you're hopelessly naive."

He slowly forced his fist to unclench, and his jaw muscles to unknot. "But that seems to be the attitude. Nothing critical has happened so far, so it never will. Which does make me the fool in all this, for expecting better."
