Alright, alright. No spider overfeeding will happen.

"They were."

The sand is much cooler in the shade where they sit. Wind rustles the leaves and waves crash on the shore. All the shouting and laughter from the youngsters (and some young in spirit) does nothing to affect the serenity of this place.

It feels peaceful, feels right, too good to be something more than a dream. More than a trick his mind is playing on him. For a moment he's overcome with dread that he'll blink and it would all vanish. But this time there's a presence at his side, solid and calm. He can feel the weight of her body leaning against his, warmth of her hand in his own, and he knows this can be no illusion, this is real.

Then the moment passes and everything is as it was the sea, and the sun, and the laughter. He smiles.

"Yes, I was especially so."
