Maru slowly lifted his head, his eyes closing, it made him feel a little dizzy to do it, but he did anyway. Around his neck, tucked under his chin, was a pretty little shell with a ribbon threaded through and around it. The ribbon was tied around his neck.

"It's fine... so long as no one takes it off of me." Maru let his head drop again, and then gave a small shake when the straw was offered.

"... I..." The smallest of sighs, breathing too deeply hurt. "... Don't want her to get hurt. But she will..." Maru wanted to be honest, as honest as he could, Madoka's Dad was being nice to him. Maybe he'd listen? "... She wants to fight and protect and be stronger. I... can help. I can protect her. It'll hurt me, but I won't die. But she is gonna get hurt sometimes. Fighting does that...
