It's sorta like...they drip away to the ground, disappearing. And then the fiends appear. You put the light on them, they shatter...and then the orbs rise from the ground. Or, well. More orbs.

So when you're killing them now, I think they might still...be in the ground? Kinda like how the orbs are. You can't do anything to them when they're orbs. But it's the light that makes the fiend turn back into an orb.
