The adrenaline kicks in rather quickly, and he's thankful for the pounding in his chest as each stitch goes through, each thread slinking into place to stitch thin layers of skin back anew. He's smiling, listening to Inigo as intently as he can, but he is cognizant of his hands and the sharp pain that follows each horizontal movement of forceps and needle. A cold sweat washes over him, collecting at the base of his forehead, but he is nothing if not incredibly resilient. Foolishly so, at this point.

"Yeah? Well, you should have kept hugging him, just to mess with him!" He's tying it out now; the first intermittent stitch. Almost there, as his hands fumble slightly to knot the thread in place. His nostrils grow wide with a deep breath, teeth trying hard not to clench. But the conversation is good, and he focuses on that, anchors himself to that - Inigo's voice and his eyes that watch him dutifully. If his speech stutters, it's nothing. It's not a big deal. Just keep going, before the adrenaline wears off.

"I-I offered a worm meal to him when he checked up on me, y'know. T-That kid really does like to mess with me - " The knot is almost done. His voice falters only somewhat but no, he won't acknowledge it. " - but he told me to watch over you. Before the mission, he said I should make sure you weren't - " Done. The first stitch is done, and he lets out a breath of relief, as if he was holding it in for a long time. His voice deflates back to normal. "You weren't overworking yourself. I hope you didn't Inigo. But you've got a good friend in Tidus. I'm really glad. I'm sorry if I didn't hold up my end of the bargain and checked up on you enough."

He closes his eyes before leaning back down for the second stitch.
