Sweet... huh. "Given its location, the sweetness can't come from chalcanthite," which is good, because that one's poisonous. But it's also water-soluble, so you wouldn't find it near water.

Large levels of some metallics could sometimes induce a sweet taste, but she couldn't say for sure that was the case here. She was a chemist, so she didn't often work with minerals in their natural forms.

"I would have guessed lepidolite, given its location, but I don't believe those are supposed to have much of a taste."
