Yes, there had to be some allowances for female soldiers, but not to the extent that they had to burden others with them. If a woman soldier was able to pass q-course and all the other requirements, there would've been nothing to keep her from joining Special Forces along with the male troops.

She kept going back to that..memory..bits of it becoming more clear. Then she remembers someone called her by the young man's name, but his own condition made her more focused on the present-not what was going on in her head.

"I got to my rank because of my skills and leadership ability," And she shut up the voice in her head that added 'and because I was the only one to survive who had the knowledge we needed. "My gender had nothing to do with it."
