Madoka slings the (relatively much too small for it) mallet over her shoulder. Probably in an attempt to look cool, to emulate something she has only seen on TV before. It mostly just looks adorable when she tries it like that.
But a moment later she is moving up to the stakes he already prepared, lifting the mallet and trying to hammer them in as well as she can.
Meanwhile she's thinking. It sounds like there's a lot behind this story - the only place they had for him? - but it feels rude to ask. It's probably really personal, right? The kind of thing Galo wouldn't want to share with just anyone.
So rather than speaking up about that, Madoka thinks--
"Oh.. well, at least they say you learn a lot at summer camp, right..?"
