He'd known some of this. Haibara had filled him in on the high points of what he'd missed while... unconscious and being taken as a hostage. (He maintained that that plan still could have worked if there had been a few less unexpected players.)

But hearing this, it was obvious that Haibara had neglected to mention a few details. And this put a very interesting lens on Vermouth's actions since that night. Some that he would need to think over.

But the most important thing here was to find a way to keep Ran safe.Vermouth didn't seem like she was interested in involving her at the moment. But without knowing why she'd taken an interest in protecting them, it was impossible to predict when or how that would change. Was she waiting for something?

"I think..." he says at last, "That Sharon-san sounds like a very dangerous person. Ran-neechan... You're being careful around her, right?" A moment of thought. "Ran-neechan? Why were you in the trunk?"
