"We wouldn't put a lot of it on," Lea said. "Just enough to spread the smell of it around. The scent of a predator would probably work better, but we don't know what kinds of animals eat the pandas, if any. And even if we did, getting enough of that scent to spread around would probably require finding and maybe killing one or more of those predators. So something that's sorta poisonous to them would be our best bet. Or at least something they think smells really bad."
