Adam was, to put it simply, horrified. Kicking an animal was terrible, and watching someone else do it felt like he should have done more to stop it.

Hesitantly, he stepped closer and put his hands gently on the armadillo ball. "You didn't hurt it, did you?" It didn't look like it was hurt, but he didn't know anything about alien creatures. At least they knew it wasn't hostile, or else it probably would have attacked them already.
