"Oh well, I guess this place is still inhabited by pandas and armadillos. They should count as beings worth saving, right?" But it's true that he cares far more for people than for animals, though he is not unkind to animals and may at times be markedly kind.

"True, we have the ability to evacuate in a hurry, if necessary. So, if the train is on it, we might not actually die here." He scratches his head. "But what about the pandas and armadillos? The train isn't going to evac them, is it?" He looks a little askance at that idea that somebody might be coming along later. "Somebody with the capability of wrecking this planet by throwing things at it? I certainly hope not."
