He runs too, but he's slower, deliberately. Giving them a false sense of security as he lags behind, Tidus and Inigo trying to take the lead on this race, both expertly maneuvering through the junglescape and all its flora to the next station...

But Roland has a plan and it's designed to hit two birds with one stone. To win this race he sets for them, and to get the practice he needs at the same time. So when the pace is just right, he whips out the gun modified with the hook, smiles to himself, and shoots it to the nearest thick branch of tree covered in vine. At the momentum it flies, with a little bit of that give, he immediately retracts the carbon fibre cable, which pulls him up into the air like a swing on a vine.

And just like that, he's flying past them both, letting the wire go and landing right in front of them with a thud. Roland throws them a smirk and a salute with two fingers, before dashing at full speed ahead.
