At the same time as Tidus knows what Roland's doing, he doesn't. He watches him, never so torn, never so ready to pounce on this opportunity, no latch for his mouth despite the attempt to find it. Tidus wants to go along with what Roland's doing here, to trust him, to show him that he does. But his eyes swing from him to the woman, and while Tidus knows all he has to do is shut his mouth--

"Does it matter? Is this really what we're doing? Pretending?" Playing along like everything's normal when it isn't, it isn't. "She's our first chance at help--" he looks at the woman, his face twisting into apprehension, looking back to Roland; the panic rising in his voice.

"We should tell her. We should be getting help!"
