Music was a good hobby in WangJi's understandably biased opinion. He had been around music all of his life. His sect used music as part of their cultivation. He was one of the few cultivators in the world with a high enough cultivation level and skill at the song Inquiry that a spirit talking to him couldn't lie to him.

But even though it was a cultivation technique he was still happy to play music just for the fun of it for anyone who would listen, but especially for his friends. And he would certainly consider Yondu a friend now. Heck, they shared a cabin and were now sharing a room again.
