It probably say something that there's no immediate joking from Inigo and Tidus's side. There's no Roland alert or anything. There's just the relief of hearing Roland's voice, of knowing that there's still something normal and consistent in this place.

"Father.." Inigo says, and there's about ten thousand other things he could say right now, but he realises being direct is probably for the best. (Also so he doesn't make Tidus gag from all the sap.) "Have you seen some of the creatures the mission description was talking about? Did any.."

He pauses, realising how ridiculous the thing he is about to say must sound, considering what the whole 'creatures' thing implied.

"Did any look.. like humans? Human-shaped, I guess.." Since they definitely encountered one of the relatively less regular-human-looking Risen just now. "With red eyes?"
