"Ready!" says Curufin, and starts hauling. Between the two of them, they manage to drag the woman out of the mud. When she gets to a place where her feet touch bottom, she can help more with her own rescue. They get her up on solid land.

And then Curufin tosses the rope to the man. He declines to be pulled up just yet, and instead takes the rope to the next person who is stuck.

And Kaito and Curufin haul that person out, too.
