Watching Alice go through this is heartbreaking to Crowley as a mother- as whatever she is, and she moves closer from her seat to immediately comfort Alice as best that she can, given the circumstances.

"I know--" she breathes, taking Alice's hand with one arm while the other holds her close. "I know it's difficult, but you have to fight it. I'm right here beside you."

Crowley closes her eyes then, because those words sound familiar to her, and suddenly she can picture herself hand in hand with another child, saying something so similar.

"You can do this, Alice." she says, because she needs her to. Because she doesn't know what she'll do if she doesn't.
