He tries to fight against the tendril holding his sword hand. As he gets raised into the air, one sword disappears so that he can use that free hand to reach up and pull at the tendril around his neck. He doesn't want to be choked or hung to death if he can help it.

"You think you are the only one who has lost something? You want to take your anger out on something else I get it. Did enough of that myself. So I'm not going to judge you for that. But we have a job to do to stop you so you might as well accept that you might stop a few of us, but you won't stop the majority."
