And they do try to withdraw. More and more of them peel off from the broken assault, easy to pick off -- at least, five, before the gun needs reloading again.

Quite a few remain running when the gun clicks empty... and Koumyou Sanzo, covered in blood that isn't his own, chases them. Tendrils of the sutra lash out and grab ankles, necks, wrists, as Koumyou closes in. Limbs fly, some actively on fire where they land on the ground.

Sanzo is easy enough to haul to his feet, and comes back to his senses immediately to shake Devero's hand off. He's not that sad brat anymore. He wears the Maten on his shoulders like it's nothing.

Doesn't mean he's not glad to see his father, though. Even if Koumyou Sanzo seems rather... unhinged, right now.

(Apparently, Sanzo comes by it honestly.)

So he huffs, and wipes the sword clean on a bit of his robe as the last of the monsters go down, and calls out an arrogant, "It's about time, old man! Did you get lost?"
