He flinches as she/they yell in his ear, but doesn't. Instead he goes carefully to one knee and tries to take the shoulders of the little girl in front of him. "What if someone was tampering with your perceptions? What if there's someone out there who's altering your reality as they see fit, for their own ends?" he asks insistently. "Do you just accept that? Go along with it because it's a nice alteration?"
