Taiki should be thankful that the illusions haven't taken them to the deepest areas of Hollownest. Untold shells of Little Ghost's kin lay piled thickly upon each other and forgotten. It's a horrifying place locked away by the Pale King, their father, after he found the one to be his Hollow Knight. No cost too great.

Taiki's tears bring up images of the City of Tears. It too is infected and dead. Water drips from above as if there is constant rain. One image overtakes the rest. At the fountain square, all one can hear is the falling rain and a haunting melody, a voice long gone. Little Ghost points to the largest statue on the fountain. That's why they need to go back. The Infection is breaking, no longer contained within the Hollow Knight. They must stop the Infection for the few who still live in Hollownest.
