Rich would certainly be able to say more, but then, rather suddenly, he finds Devero holding him and staring at him with far more intensity than before, as if just now realizing the danger they've been placed in. Rich can't blame him, exactly, but... it's hard to ignore just how much care and worry Devero is showing. Not a lot of adults have ever shown him that.
He still keeps thinking about that stupid slip of the tongue when Jack was controlling him. He knows Dev probably didn't let it bother him, but Rich has been comparing this gentle, understanding man to the mess that his father was every day on this train.
