In the end, if there was even a modicum of good that came from all the blood he shed, the work he put in, then it was worth it. He'd done his job. He brought Konoha to prosperity even if the choices of those he mentored does, inevitably, fall on him. The many things he'll never speak without some teeth pulling. Pride.
