It's something he's been thinking about a lot, lately. How unfair it is that people who don't deserve it hurt and people who do deserve it don't. How much things should be different - could be different.
"I... don't want you to have to be sad anymore. So... if we can figure out more about the train, maybe we can bring them back. So they can live again and have a happier life. Or at least a decent life, better than what's happened to them. I don't... know how things ended, but it couldn't have been good. You... and they... deserve better than that."
