No doubt it would go over his head, and Idia really didn't want to explain it all. He's also gone around and salvaged a lot from around the train, maybe to a point of stealing some points, and hording them away until he can put them to use. Nothing most would notice missing, just... taking stuff that he clearly considered abandoned by others.

If he had a broomstick, one he designed, more modern and a merge of magic and technology, it in theory could still operate if one of those two part were not accessible on a stop.
