subcircuits: (the solemn man)

Devero feels like there's something getting tangled up between them, something he's not communicating properly or that he's not understanding. He can sense that big lonely hole in Yondu and he desperately wants to fill it up-- maybe because he was so lonely himself, as was Koumyou, before they found each other.

Yondu had once described him as someone who'd been 'taught to be loving', which is true, and such a big part of that is giving. It's intrinsic to him to want to give of himself, so intrinsic that a very evil woman had taken that urge and twisted it and used it to poison him, for years. But it endures, and it breaks his heart to know that Yondu is still carrying this pain inside--

And to realize there's nothing he can do about it unless Yondu chooses to let him.

That realization is in his eyes, gone dark and shiny and sad in the erratic light of the display overhead. "Okay," he says, soft and reluctant. He squeezes Yondu's shoulders hard, and then releases them. "I know you do, Yondu. I've got all the confidence in the world in you."

He just wishes Yondu could have it in him, in return.
