It is hard to deal with a man that keeps throwing up boundaries, walls augmented with a cowardly fear of being hurt. But he is, very genuinely, glad that Devero was able to push by Koumyou's. And he wants that moment for them.

But there's damage not even a man as loving as Devero can reach. He does have his family though. And he does have his friends. They do their own little bits. He's out here tonight, actually trying, and for all that hole is still there, he's let something in.

"Hey man, don't look that way. You're gonna go do the impossible tomorrow. Head of a chaste religious order an' you're gonna commit 'im to a life of sin. You absolutely should be wild with pride for it."

He breaks the hold so he can sling an arm around his back and grab his drink back up, stamping down any of the other thoughts.
