"Except that I wasn't taken from my world, but from the Void. The Voidtreckers' void, that is. But I hope you're right, that the tether protects the original body to some extent."

He nods. "In my world, we did have a Void. It was a rather strangely constructed world, as it was a flat earth with a high wall around the occupied lands. The Walls of the World held back the Void, which was the substance out of which our Creator God made the world and everything and everybody who lived in it. I know about the Wall because on the continent on which I was born and raised, it was only a few hundred miles across the plain from the city I grew up in. My father and brothers and I journeyed all over that continent, Aman, looking for precious stones and metals and other materials we could use for various crafts. One time we went all the way to the western edge of that continent and stood beneath the Wall. It was made of an unknown substance that was veined with color, and above it were the stars of heaven. In order to get over the Wall and into the Void, a person would have to have had to have a very high ladder! Or the ability to fly. Neither of which we had, and anyway, we didn't want to visit the Void. I don't know whether its existence meant that our world was Void-active, but I never saw any Voidcraft there."
