"Isn't that usually the case?"

Ignoring most the rest, because the taste in his mouth can be handled later, and it's unpleasant for more than the simple reason of lifting a friend with it. The compulsions, the scent of blood in the air, the curling confusion of how or why, and which god is it, if some are meant to be sleeping, because he's hearing names of other gods cooed for and after, come out, come out, wherever you are.

The butterflies arc out, and Jingyi brings his head around level to Sizhui, a flick of his lashes to accompany his blink.

"Remember getting trussed up in Yiling?" There in the Burial Mounds, and he thinks that might be a shared experience, being used as bait by one whose machinations ran deep. The Yiling Patriarch raises his private army of the possessed! But no, he does not, and Yiling is slow to recover from centuries of layered death and decay. "It's time to get trussing ourselves."

By which he means Sizhui can start tying people up, as he doesn't see how else to stop them right now without causing permanent injury to both parties. Or, blinking, "Wait, do you know how to use your father's golden net technique?"
