Thanatos nearly tells Ryo to not bother with softening the landing. The wretched soldier is supposed to be dead, and mortals aren't go to be survive from this height. The landing would end this ill-forced life in an instant. Then he thinks better of it for various reasons, most concerning Ryo. All Thanatos can hope is that the soldier's next death is quick and painless.
