The burst of light blinds this child of Night, but he's spared from being completely disoriented from Mort stepping up and squeaking directions. Thanatos's skin burns where Kolokifi touched him. He feels pulled in multiple directions.
This isn't working. He's trying to act as a distraction for Kolokifi and protect Zagreus, but he seems to be more of a distraction for his team instead.
"... Don't die, Zagreus. But if you do... I got you." He gives a sad, apologetic look in the direction he senses his God of Life. Zagreus has done something; he can sense that much. But Thanatos has no power here even if he thought he could do something.
Death's words only solidify his next move, if one could call it that. (Though all this still brings to mind the ugly truth he fears that the only favor he can give is to stay away.) This is no longer Thanatos's battle even as Kolokifi searches for him, Merios.
Thanatos shifts further away from Kolokifi and will remain there as a further target, hopefully. Anyone who casts their spell or puts themselves in the way will not find their efforts wasted, and blinded as he is, he could even be enclosed without him trying to flee. Thanatos dismisses his sword, wraps his arms and wings around himself, and waits.
