Wangji was almost entirely focused on the ribbons when the ground starts shaking. Seeing how Wei Wuxian's fire talismans are doing he adds those into mix, using barriers to protect himself while setting the ribbons ablaze.
He's very graceful and normally would be able to dodge much more than he is right now, but he doesn't want to leave anyone undefended and that first ribbon really hurt. Every time he gets hit with another it seems to sting more and more and the ground shaking isn't helping.
