Jake is increasingly distressed as the situation degrades. The void is penetrating the sky, he's hearing weird echoes...and though Amy finally believes him, that means she's now worried.

He's told her that this means he might have to go back, and he's let the squad know too. As much as he wants to rejoin the squad...he suspects he can't.

And then his SCA chimes, and his stomach drops. It's happening, isn't it. He's out on the street on his own when it happens, and that's the scene Esteban will encounter. Busy sidewalks, honking cars. And Jake, holding a foil-wrapped sandwich, eyes wide.

"...Esteban?"
