Everyone could at least, and that helped, but not when they were setting out. Senku did not like walking, but he hated the thought of people being stuck and hurt more. So, he would walk on the uneven terrain.

"The train said we all have three point tethers, which is fascinating because not everyone can think of what the third point is. And even though at present my non-travelling self is not viable, so to speak, at least it's not presently organic apparently my tether is fine."
