There are people where she would immediately be open with about that sort of question. Either because she is not close enough with them to not care about their opinion, or because she feels like she can just share anything with them - though the latter category is truly locked down to just a few people.

It's a little bit more complicated with this girl. Mostly because she's so young, and Alice is definitely the type who wants to try and shelter kids from certain things. As much as she can, anyway. This girl is already used to so much - but that doesn't mean Alice just has to pile more on top of it.

"Not really," she finally answers, deciding to go with the truth after all. "I have not quite felt like myself, ever since what happened just the other week or so."

The understatement of the century, but look, Alice is not going to drop an 'I think the train literally killed me' on a child like that. Not so suddenly, anyway.
