Now would be a good time for those earplugs, regardless of how effective they'd be. But Tidus isn't feeling secure enough to move his hands off from Taiki, the choral singing louder up from this high blending in with the whistling of the wind and rain. He's trying to keep his eyes open, but are his eyes any better than Taiki's? All he can see is trees, the tops of them, and then from the sky--

A blast of lightning coming down close, crackling in multiple colours. Blobs fall like residue dropping off from something unseen, and Tidus only just catches sight of it, wonders if his eyes aren't playing tricks on him.

It's the singing that grows louder, a sharp pain in his head, and Tidus realises--

"Taiki, I think-- we're too close to the void! It's somewhere here!"

He tries to shout over the noise of the storm. It's reminding him too much of when he was anchoring - this exhaustion and anxiety pressing down on them.
