Rezo smiles slightly when he feels her hand take his. He likes helping her navigate such obstacles, unnecessary as it might be. It helps him feel more assured of his own place in any given environment, less of an oblivious, clumsy oaf. And it makes it easier to accept her own assistance in return, although he doesn’t actually put any of his weight on her when he climbs down after her. Since she only comes up to around his shoulders, he’s a little afraid he might accidentally knock her over.

“That sounds unsettling,” he says as he joins her on the ground.

(He wonders if Zelgadis attempted to return home. Rezo hasn’t spoken with his great-grandson since Zelgadis confronted him that first day.)

“By all accounts, however, you and the others were successful in retrieving the lost passengers.”
