"There's a technique a man showed me ages ago, but I haven't used it in a long time - it should weaken the wood for a while. At least," he admits, "--we use it on living things. But it might work on this too."
Why not? It's not like trying could hurt, except it wouldn't exactly be easy for him, either. Still - he looks at Wangji.
"You mind me giving it a go? We can look for an axe, but I don't know where we'd find any around here. But I've got a couple of throwing axes on me."
Smaller, but they'll likely work better if he can weaken up the wood for them first.
