The chinchillas have quick reflexes, but calculations for how to jump can't always be accurately made - when you're a chinchilla beast that has little clue of flaming chakrams. A few manage to avoid the blades, but not all, squeaks and tumbling of the oversized rodents heard. Those lots are changing their minds, jumping to try and find hiding spots to take cover. They don't want to mess with fire, okay.

Tidus isn't idle in this time. There's a wide spread of the chinchillas attempt to be sneaky pests, and where Lea's chakrams haven't gone, Tidus has. He doesn't want to pull out the lightning bolts a second time, for the same reason Lea didn't cast a wall of fire. But what he can do is hasten his feet, speeding more than a regular human, and bringing up a ball of water in a palm as he assesses his targets.

Fire might be more feared, but you know what's not so great to get hit by? A well-aimed water ball made of magic, bursting as it makes contact. The chinchilla first caught by the hit squeals and falls - and Tidus is readying quickly to get the rest.
