Nell took a deep breath and shrugged, though it hurt to think about. "And I fed him to my land. He'd bled on it, so I owned him. Joshua had, too, but I let him flee with his tail between his legs, and the fear of God in him. He was young, could still learn, maybe, but Brother Ephraim was evil and he would have killed Yondu and me both. So... I let the land have him. And I need to live with that for the rest of my life."
