There are a lot of noises overlapping each other, from the spell crashing into the beast’s side, its laser firing off into the distance, and the rubble scattering underfoot. Rezo doesn’t really hear Zelgadis, not until the beast stops moving and Zelgadis yells over to him.
Rezo’s shoulders sag at Zel’s yelling; good, he thinks. The boy hasn’t gotten so rusty that he can’t dodge a monster, or at least dodge enough to still be yelling like that. Zel's tone does sound kind of strained, which might be an indication of injury, or it might be one of a thousand other stressors.
Still, mindful of the fact that it’s hard to get through an explosion like that totally unscathed, Rezo moves over to Zelgadis, skittering through the loose stone and earth scattered across the ground.
“Did you get injured?” Rezo asks. Is there a smell of blood, or burned flesh detectable…?
