He was like a fungus you couldn't get rid of. He knows, it's okay.

"Turn around," he instructs and gets her to sit in front of him. As gently as he could, he teased the tangled locks with his fingers first before even trying to brush. Her hair was a mess! He was feeding her, protecting her, and living in her room. He might as well groom her too. "I don't know about you, but I've had my fill of evil goats and eagle owls."

He doubted she was going to be too sad to leave this world behind. The trek up the mountain alone had to have been grueling. He was so lucky he had his suit. Which is something he's thought repeatedly over the years.

He's snapped out of his thoughts when he feels a particularly tight tangle. With practiced hands, he teases it until the hair comes loose without tugging too much. "What'd you do to your hair, silly? You have a brush in your bag, don't you?"
